Iceland

Best Months

June–August for midnight sun and full access to the Highlands

Trip Length

7–10 days

Best For

Adventure seekers, Couples looking for something different

Glaciers, volcanoes, midnight sun, and Northern Lights — no other country packs this much geology into 39,000 square miles.

Why Go

  • The landscapes are genuinely unlike anywhere else on earth — geysers, black sand beaches, lava fields, and ice caves that make every day feel like science fiction.

  • It works equally well in summer (midnight sun, all roads open, puffins) and winter (Northern Lights, fewer tourists, cozy farmhouse dinners).

  • Self-drive is accessible for most travelers, but guided tours unlock parts of the Highlands that you simply can't reach on your own.

  • Reykjavík is one of the most livable small capital cities in the world — good food, no pretension, walkable, and a perfect base.

Best For

  • Anyone who's been to Europe six times and wants something new
